Biological response modifying medications

(BRM) for rheumatoid diseases

A

Newer medication called biological response modifying medications (BRM) include Infliximab, Etanercept, Adalimumab, and Anakinra, among others. These work by blocking enzymes in the immuneactivation cascade, such as TNF, IL-1, B-cells and T-cells. They have a much more targeted mechanism of action and have been shown to have a powerful effect on arresting disease progression.
