What are the two styles of social control?

What are the 3 internal forms of SC?
1) rational ideology= logical choice to commit crime, ppl do it on purpose to meet a certain need
2) tradition= norms and values passed down in certain cultures eg honour killing
3) internalisation of social rules and morality= a persons moral compass, internalising there norms and values

What are the 3 forms of external SC?
1) coercion= using violent or non-violent force to achieve a change in behaviour
2) fear of punishment = deterring ppl from wanting to commit crime
3) control theory = combination of int&ext forms they work together to explain why ppl conform and obey to social expectation

2) •CPTED=preventing crime through changing environmental designs such as better lighting
•Prison design= two types: 1. Panoptican: circular shaped prison to remind prisoners of constant supervision 2. Supermax:most secure level of prison •Gated lanes= gates put up in private areas to stop trespassing , reduces crime
