A

1) when the court decides not to send some one to prison straight away , they have the chance to behave and stay out of trouble
2) eg given a curfew they must abide by

1) courts give out a fixed prison sentence length
2) they can be realised into community under supervision along side certain conditions, if these are breached they return straight to prison
3) when an offfender wears a tag and is monitored

A

1) judges give this when offender is guilty of murder, only released when sentence is served fully
2) most serious crimes , will never get released
3) mitigating factors may effect some ones sentence, it’s up to the courts discretion
