Why were work horses better then oxen?
They were faster than oxen and could work 1-2 hours more per day.

476-1000 CE much provincialism lots of of division and feuding lack of major art and artisanship constant invasion of Viking, Magyars, and Muslims lack of trading

Others robbed merchants and travelers

What is an epidemic?
a disease that spreads throughout a smaller community
It is localized
What is an endemic?
a disease or condition that is regularly found among particular group or in a certain area
Chinampas:
It is a specific way the people in mesoamerica farmed. It involved artificial islands being placed in water and the plants (maize) were grown on those islands.
They could collect the maize by canoe.
Caravansaries:
Roadside “hotels” for traveling traders.
They made it easier for traders to make their journeys without being attacked by bandits/robbers.
Jurchen:
A group of people who lived in Manchuria (today’s North Eastern China). They started the Jin dynasty.
