Different types of media outlets and how they are funded
- Commercial Media eg (Channel 10) Funded through Advertisements
- Government Media eg (ABC)- Funded by government taxes
- Community Media (Local Radio Stations) Funded by fundraising, donations, ads or buy time
ACMA
Australian Communication Media Authority.
They are responsible for Australian media ratings and they enforce regulations. ACMA is mostly for digital and electronic media
Australian Press Council (APC)
This is basically the same as ACMA but for print.
Production Roles

Positive and negative of being a producer of media (Technology)
Postives
- Room for Creativity
- Easy and Simple
- Having the ability to say something that may of been hard anywhere else
- User Friendly
Negatives
- Can be Expensive
- Becoming obsessed
- Cyberbullying
- Misrepresentation.
Why can people get upset with the ABC?
Because it comes from their tax money so they expect the shows to be good.
ABC aims to be
as neutral as possible.
Media Ownership in Australia.
It is important to have diversity of media ownerships as to keep things fresh and different.
If everything can own media then there will always be room for judgement and multiple opinions.
Australian Content Requirements
55% of content per annum on Australian TV has to be Australian made to showcase our own stuff. To settle on the 55% Tv will increase sporting channel content

Why aren’t we watching Aussie Films.
Why aren’t we watching Australian films
- Australian film industry has a market full of life and optimistic
- Theres a belief that the Australian Film industry has had not as much australian success than international
Reason 1) Lack of audiences/ Focus too much on Outback
Reason 2) The press knock Australian films/ People want assurance that a movie is good
Reason 3) Limited releases and small budgets for marketing.
