biblical scholar- is a person who tries to interpret text within its historical context and use information to reconstruct that setting
theologian - a person who is an expert in theology
difference- theology is the study of religion and God while biblical studies is the study of the bible itself
what is the messianic promise
-the ancient Jewish belief in a promised Messiah
-from 597BCE the Ancient Jews were ruled by foreign rulers
-dreamed of God sending them a great leader to liberate them
