Exam help/advice Flashcards
Know chi squared, standard deviation and spearmans rank (Jamie the Geographer YT videos for first 2)
Ye - just know them and talk about statstically signifcant, null hypothesis etc.
4 mark structure:
Point explain, point explain. Or, 4 relevant points. Define, explain, example, impact etc. 4 mins max.
6 mark (analyse/interpret)
GLAH. Manipulate data eg range, mean etc. Critique data eg the chart is tricky to interpret due to lots of variables. LINK between data sources you’re provided with. NO MARKS FOR EXPLAINING CONCEPTS. Pattern, Evidence, Anomaly, Link, Manipulate is good. 6 mins max.
6 mark assess
4 marks for referencing figure. 2 marks for defining/explaining. In fig 1 you can see (explain). You can also see (expalin). 1 for. 1 against. Mini 1 line conc. 6 mins max.
9 marker
Mini 20 marker. Intro with definiton/example case study. For paragraph with some evaluation to your points. Use adverbs like signifcantly, considerably etc. Temporal/spatial is key. Against paragraph. Conclude (2-3 lines). 12 minutes roughly.
20 (essay)
Intro with definitions, example name, spatial/temporal. Literally say in the short-term/long, locally/regionally or even use the words spatially and or temporally.
My structure: 1 big for paragraph. Explain concepts/defintions. Use case study. Temporal/spatial. Evaluate your points with however or though. Can even evaluate evaluation. Make links with other modules eg write about wildfires (hazards) for carbon - especially if stuck.
1 big against (knowledge, explain, case study, synoptic links to other modules, spatial/temporal, evaluate).
Conclude and say how far you agree and why. Can repeat a main stat. Use evaluation. Easiest part of essay for spatial/temporal. Do the 3 20s first. Roughly 25 minutes on each and can do mini plan before it.
Practice past papers in timed conditions, explicitly answer the question, make notes after each lesson and revise consistently after first set of mocks
