Relates to the efficient functioning of the body and and it’s systems and includes the capacity to perform tasks and physical fitness
Mental health
State of wellbeing in which the individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, is able to work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution the their community.
Social health
Being able to interact with others and participate in the community in both and independent and cooperative way
Mortality
Refers to deaths in a population
Morbidity
Refers to ill health in an individual or levels of ill health in a population.
How do you measure health status
An individuals or a populations overall health, taking into account life expectancy, amount of disability and levels of disease risk factors.
Life expectancy
An indication of how long a person can expect to live if the current death rates remain unchanged
Life span
The length of time for which a person lives
Incidence
Refers to the number of new cases of a disease/condition in a population during a given time
Prevalence
The number of cases of a particular disease/condition present in a population at a given time
DALY’s
Disability adjusted life years
One daly is equal to one year of healthy life lost due to premature death and time lived with illness, disease or injury.

The development of processes in the brain such as thought, memory and knowledge.

Youth
12 to 18

The action or process of maturing
Puberty
Biological changes that occur during youth and prepare the individual for sexual reproduction.
