Fort Necessity
Seven-foot high stockade built by Washington and his troops. Poorly situated, poorly constructed. Attacked and Washington surrendered July 3 1754.

Clergy sued over the Two Penny Act. Lasted over 5 years. Patrick Henry lead protest.
Two Penny act
Suspended payment of taxes in tobacco. Temporarily allowing taxpayers to fulfill obligations at rate of two pence per pound.

Path Non Angelican Protestants used to journey through New York or Philadelphia and eventually found way to valley.
General Edwards Braddock
Sent into French-Indian war after Washingtons defeat. Arrived in Feb 1755. Killed July 9 1755
