Acute pain is rapid in onset and ranges from mild-severe.

-result of tissue damage or organ disease
-i.e.- Surgeries, sore throat, pricked finger

What is Chronic Pain? What are the qualities of chronic pain?

A

Chronic pain lasts BEYOND the normal healing period.
-Long duration (sometimes a lifetime) and hard to define
-varies from severe to consistent or even has periods of remission and exacerbation.
-CAN LEAD TO DEPRESSION AND ANGER!
-ie. cancer, back pain, osteoarthritis, and peripheral neuropathy
