Obessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) characteristics

A

Repetitive behaviors or mental acts the individual feels driven to perform aiming to prevent or reduce anxiety or distress

Obsession or compulsions are often time-consuming

Recurrent and persistent thoguths, urges or images that are intrsuive and unwanted, causing anxiety or distress

OCD obsessions usually do not involve real-life concerns, thus some delusions may be a part of OCD insted of psycotic disorders.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder characteristics

A

May include muscle dysmorphia in which the client is preoccupied with the idea that his or her body build is tooo small or insufficiently muscular

The most common age of onset is between 12-13 years of age

Perception of defect or flaws in pysical appearance that are incongruent with outsider perspectives

Patient has performed repetative behavios or mental acts in response to appearance conerns
