Obessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) characteristics
Repetitive behaviors or mental acts the individual feels driven to perform aiming to prevent or reduce anxiety or distress
Obsession or compulsions are often time-consuming
Recurrent and persistent thoguths, urges or images that are intrsuive and unwanted, causing anxiety or distress
OCD obsessions usually do not involve real-life concerns, thus some delusions may be a part of OCD insted of psycotic disorders.
Body Dysmorphic Disorder characteristics
May include muscle dysmorphia in which the client is preoccupied with the idea that his or her body build is tooo small or insufficiently muscular
The most common age of onset is between 12-13 years of age
Perception of defect or flaws in pysical appearance that are incongruent with outsider perspectives
Patient has performed repetative behavios or mental acts in response to appearance conerns
Hording disorder characteristics
Persistent difficulty discardign or parting with possessions regarless their value
Perceived need to save items and distress associated with discarding them
Congestion and clutter of living areas comprosising thier intended use
Symptoms may first emerge around 11-15 years of age
Trichotillomania
Reccurrent pulling out of one’s hair, resulitn in hair loss accompanied with repeated attemtps to decrease or stop hair pulling
Hording description
Persistent diffcitly discarding posessions due to a perceived need to save the items, resulint in accumulation of possessions that congest living space
Excoriation
Recurrent skin picking resulting in skin lesions, accompanied with repeated attempts to decrease or stop skin picking.
Body Dysmorphic Disorder description
Preoccupation with perceived defect(s) or flaw(s) in physical appearance that are not observeable or appear slight to others, in which these appearance concerns result in performing of repetitive behaviros or mental acts in response
Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)
Social situations are avoided or endured with intense fear or anxiety
In children, anxiety must appear among peers specifically to meet criteria
The individual fears they will act in a way or show anxiety symptoms that will be negatively evaluated
The fear or anxiety in children may be expressed through failuare to speka in social situations
Kleptomania characteristics
Fascination, gratification or relief at time of theft
Tension before the act, followed by pleasurable feelings after
Conduct Disorder characteristics
Includes more severe symptoms of oppositional defiant disorder
Aggression toward individuals or animals, destruction of property or a pattern of theft or deceit
Aggression may be premeditated and/or to achieve tangible objectives
Repetitive and persistent patters associated with impairment in social, academic or occupational functioning
Pyromania characteristics
Tension or affective arousal before the act, followed by pleasurable feelings after
Fascination, interest, curiosity or attraction to fire and its aftermath
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) characteristics
Symptoms must present with at least one non-sibling
Individuals 5 and older have symptomatic occurrences at least once a week for a minimum of 6 months
For children under 5, symptoms must persist most days for at least 6 months
Intermittent Explosive Disorder characteristics
Failure to control aggressive impulses
Chronological or developmental age of at least 6 years
Pyromania description
Deliberate fire setting for the purpose of pleasure gratification or relief associated with fascination, interest curiosity or attraction to fire and its results.
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) description
Frequent and persistent patter of angry/irritable mood, argumentative/defiant behavior, or vindictiveness in at least one setting towards a non-sibling for at least a 6 month time period
