Stage 2: autonomy vs. shame and doubt
1-2 years. toddlers learn to control will and do things for themselves
Stage 3: initiative vs. Guilt
3-5 years. preschoolers learn to initiate tasks and carry them out, or they feel guilty about efforts to be independent.
Stage 4: industry vs. Inferiority
6-12 years. elementary school age children develop a sense of industry or competence and learn productive skills their culture requires; if not, they feel inferior.
Stage 5: Identity vs. role confusion
12-20 years. adolescents develop a coherent sense of self and their role in society or they face identity/role confusion
Stage 6: intimacy vs. isolation
20-30 years. young adults form intimate connections with others, if not, they may experience feelings of isolation.
Stage 7: generativity vs. stagnation
30-65 years. middle-aged develop concern for establishing guiding and influencing the next generation; if not, they face stagnation (lifelessness).
Stage 8: Ego integrity vs. Despair
65+ years. older people enter a period of reflection and life review

Keep infants close to nursing station
Toddlers: encourage child autonomy by offering choices
Preschool: explain in simple clear language
School age: Provide factual information
Different pain scales such as Faces,FLACC
FLACC: 2 months to 7 years
- Face,Legs,Activity, Cry, Consolability*
On a scale from 0-10
FACES: ages 3 years and older
0-5 rating using a diaphragm with 6 faces
Ask child to choose a face best describing their pain and how they are feeling
Infant and toddler nutrition
Infant: Breastfeeding provides a complete diet for infants in the first 6 months
Iron-fortified formula is good to use
Vitamin D supplements in the first few days to prevent rickets
No juice or water before 4 months of age.
Solids start after 6 months : iron fortified cereal
New foods should be introduce one at a time
Toddlers: Should consume 24-28 oz of milk per day
Juice consumption should be limited to 4-6 oz per day
1 cup of fruit a day
Trans fats and saturated fats should be avoided.
Finger foods are preferred
Adult supervision should always be there when children are eating
