Exam 2 DRUGS ONLY Flashcards
Alpha 1 receptors
vascular smooth muscle,
skin, kidney, viscera, skeletal
NE binding leads to vasoconstriction
Alpha 2 receptors
Presynaptic ganglia
auto inhibition of NE
Beta 1 receptors
Heart, Epi/NE
induces contractility, heart rate, velocity
Beta 2 receptors
pulmonary airways, skeletal muscle vasculature
auto stim of NE at presynaptic ganglia
VASODILATION
Dopamine
Beta agonist- lead to vasodilation
tx acute renal vailure- increase perfusion to kidneys
Dobutamine
beta 1
tx congestive heart failure
acts as positive ionotrope
Ephedrine
Alpha/Beta agionist
beta lipolysis/thermogenic
Tx urinary incontince/hypotensiono
Phenylephrine
alpha agonist
pupillary dilation, hypotension/hypovolemic shock
alpha stim leads to vasoconstriction
Albuterol
beta 2 agonist
bronchodialtion
CLenbuterol
tx COPD, banned in horses
beta 3 stim/bronchodialtion
Terbutaline
long lasting beta 2,
takes longer to take effect
Propanolol
beta blocker, not beta 1 specific
risk blocking beta 2, leads to bronchoconstriction
Atenelol
beta 1 specific
used for high blood pressure
anti anxiety
Phenbenzamine
alpha 1/2 antagonist
decreases urethral sphincter tone, laminitis
leads to vasodialtion of peripheral vessels-> increases peripheral perfusion
Phentolamine
alpha 1/2 blocker
save fingers injected w/ epi
also tx pheochromatomas- adrenal gland tumors, reduces effect of too much epi
