what is collective bargaining
collective action taken by workers to secure better wages or working conditions
pros of collective bargaining
unions use power to negotiate wages, union hospitals get higher wages, employment protection, power in number
cons of collective bargaining
less work/dollar for companies, less productivity, less work performed, higher wages in union may lose business and have to lay off workers
what are nursing issues addressed with collective bargaining
Staffing - rules and ratio
Injury compensation
PTO, hourly wage, sick time
