What are the differences between a clinical and counseling psychologist?
Clinical Psychologist
- deal with more mental disorders and severe issues
- problem is longer in duration, internal to self, affects many areas of life
Counseling Psychologists
- focused more on life adjustment issues. Ex: adjusting after the death of a loved one
- more general problems
- Can get a Psy D
What is the Boulder Model?
-Know as the Scientist Practitioner Model
-Where earning a PhD with tested knowledge and applying research to practice
- provides students with as much funding as possible
- keeps number of students low in order to maximize mentorship opportunities
- A Phd student is a student and employee at the same time!
- only doctoral programs in clinical and counseling psychology get apa accredited!
What is the Vail Model
- a degree that primary focuses on treatment and assessment
- doesn’t have an emphasis on research and teaching
- emerged with PsyD!

- A clinical psychology doctoral degree that is practiced based
- accepts more students into program
- comes from professional schools of psychology
How does licensure work for counseling and clinical psychologists?
- licensure is regulated by the states!
- doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology required
- Post doctoral training required in which practice is supervised by licensed psychologist

What is a Mental Health Technician/Aid, Psychiatric Technician?Requirements?
- Spend time in direct contact with patients in inpatient, residential, camp setting
- Technicians aids are involved in entire spectrum of patient’s daily routine
- Only need a bachelors! Sometimes not even!
What are Human/ Social service workers?
- work typically involves coordination services between a client and agency that serves them
- work in non profit setting, they may be involved in community outreach, variety cases and coordination services

- a licensed clinical neurologist psychologist that has training in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience
- helps individuals with massive brain injuries

What is Experimental Psychology? What is the issue with it, and what do they do?
