redeemers viewed the old South as the Lost Cause.

A

I would say Grandy and the Redeemer use the old self as the lost cause, because how much nostalgia of how the old self was like plantations, the economy and the one crop reliance and they are used for new south, so I assume they would just connect two

Q

What were Grady and the redeemers’ goal
for a New South; did their goals align with the reality?

A

Grady and the Redeemer goals for the new southwestern place, the plantations off economy, and to have more than one crop that would stabilize the south instead of the single prop, which was cotton. They wanted to increase manufacturing and use the latest inventions. I would say their goals do not really align reality because with the south because of their dependence on the plantation economy, and the one crop reliance. the south versus the north was not heavily Prog, Resse or advance further

Plessy violating the Louisiana law of him, having to sit in the color section of the passion car. This court case is not ruling his favor and ruled against him as it was argued that it would be separate but equal And upheld that law.

Compare/contrast Booker T. Washington’s with W. E. B. Du Bois—what were each
advocating?

A

Booker, T Washington and his compromise called for African-Americans to progress, the education entrepreneurship essentially arguing to get the same degrees or get educated versus du bois being against advocating for the ending of Jim Crow laws and the voter suppression. They were also different in their strategies. Washington had an accommodates strategy where he was essentially accommodating and watching what he say to not offend the people in the audience that much because he was a professor at university and he didn’t wanna lose that. Du bois approach was well. He argued for senseless agitation when Washington did the Atlantic compromise he rejected it.
