What is an longitudinal study and epidemiology study
A longitudinal study, is a study done on a group of people over a long period of time, possibly for their whole lives.
An epidemiology study, are study’s of epidemics, such as the oxy cotton crises
Explain a case study and a follow up study
A case study: Is a study that’s follows a person’s story and the impact of their disorder
A follow up: Is where someone is called or talked to after a study at a later date

Explain a mental state exam (MSE)
A mental state exam is done to see what type of treatment a person may need.
They check by looking at:
orientation, are they able to stand or sit without swaying.
Memory, to see if they can remember basic things.
Appearance, how do they look? Are the dirty?.
Speech, are they able to speak coherently

What’s is a double blind study
A correlation study is, when two variables are looked to see if there is a relationship between the two. Depression and eating fat food.
A double blind study, a study done to test medication usually, a group of people will be given a placebo or the real drugs to see what the affects are.

Projective, clients are asked to draw a house a person and a tree. Where and how things are drawn base the results
Thematic, a set of photos and then the client is asked to tell a narrative based of the photo shown
Ink blot, is a series of paper with ink blots and asked to say what they see

IQ test, is a series of basic tests to see what the iq of a person is, 2+2
Completion sentence, clients are asked to complete a sentence, to see what comes to mind

Explain a somatic symptom disorder
1-2% of women 0.5% of men, often in women starting around the age of 30-35,4 pain sites 2 GI, 1sexual issue, and 1 brain issue. Often take a lot of medication.

Secondary gain is when someone is benefiting from disorder, either they get time off work or sympathy for have a disorder.
What is a somatic symptom disorder(pain)
They have pain that is bad enough they seek medical attention
The pain prevents them from functioning in some way
Psychological factors play a role in severity of pain
