Ewit Vocab Flashcards
battery
a device containing an electric cell or a series of electric storing energy that can be converted to electrical power
circuit
a continous conducting path for current
chemical energy
a form of potential energy that is stored in chemical bonds
diagram
a labeled drawing that explains or shows the parts of something. Can be a type of model
electrical energy
a form of kinetic energy that involves he transfer of change through an electric conductor
schematic
a diagram that represents an electric circuit using symbols
energy
the quantitative property that must be transferred to an object in order to perform work on, or to heat, the object.
components
an element or electric device in an electric circuit
ammeter
an instrument used to measure electric current in a circuit
amperes
unit of electric current
current
the net movement of electrons through a conductor. Often defined as the net amount change passing through a conductor at a given point per unit time
parallel circuit
a circuit in which current flows only in one closed path
series circuit
a circuit in which current flows in only one closed path
volts
unit of electrical potential
voltage
especially a measure of the work associated with moving an electric charge from one point to another
voltmeter
an instrument that measures electrical potential, or voltage, across a component or components in a circuit
Characteristics of wet cell batteries
electrolyte- liquid
What do wet and dry cell batteries?
batteries, transfer energy, cell, positive and negative terminals, electrodes, and electrolytes
Describe the relationship between batteries and current
I think how batteries are connected affects the current, it can also affect the current speed
How does series or parallel affect the electrical current?
In a series batteries add flow when increasing batteries. In parallel the current has more places
How are voltmeters and ammeters similar and different?
They are similar because they are used to measure stuff. They are different because they use different units.
Voltage depends on…
the type of metal
What does the brightness of a light bulb depend on?
arrangement and voltage
resistors
an electrical component that restricts the flow of electric current
resistance
a property of a material that determines it’s ability to allow current to flow through it
If you increase the voltage the (blank) increases as well
current
