Why do you want to work here (3)
I believe that working at Evident AI would be a great opportunity for me to leverage my skills, experience, and interests in machine learning, big data analytics and financial modelling. It would also allow me to grow as a researcher and learn from some of the best minds in the field of AI. I am excited by the prospect of joining your team and contributing to your mission
What is Evident AI’s mission and vision?
By creating rigorous and independent indices, we help companies transform faster, safely, and sustainably, minimising the harms of AI and maximising the commercial, economic and societal opportunities
What are the main products and services that Evident AI offers?
- AI index (just financials now, expanding to more sectors)
- Key Findings report derived for AI Index
- Presenting insights to management, and producing bespoke research
Benefits of using public data to generate AI indices
- Public data can provide a rich and diverse source of information that can help measure AI maturity across different industries and domains
- Public data can enable experimentation and innovation with AI methods and applications, generating new insights and value for businesses
- Public data can facilitate benchmarking and comparison of AI performance and impact among different organizations or countries
Challenges of using public data to generate AI indices
- Public data may not be reliable, accurate, or consistent, affecting the quality and validity of AI outcomes
- Public data may not be sufficient or relevant for specific AI use cases or objectives, requiring additional data sources or processing
- Public data may pose ethical, social, or legal risks or challenges when used for AI purposes, such as privacy, security, bias, or accountability issues
How do you define AI maturity and what are the key indicators to measure it?
- I define AI maturity as the extent to which an organization can leverage AI methods and applications to achieve its strategic goals and objectives, while also managing the risks and challenges associated with AI. Some of the key indicators to measure AI maturity are:
- The level of alignment between AI strategy and business strategy
- The level of investment and innovation in AI research and development
- The level of adoption and integration of AI solutions across business functions and processes
- The level of performance and impact of AI solutions on business outcomes and customer satisfaction
- The level of governance, ethics, and transparency around AI use and decision-making
What are some of the current trends and developments in AI research and practice that interest you?
- The use of natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision (CV) to enhance human-computer interaction, such as conversational agents, sentiment analysis, image recognition, etc.
- The use of reinforcement learning (RL) and deep learning (DL) to solve complex optimization problems, such as autonomous driving, game playing, robotics, etc.
- The use of explainable AI (XAI) and trustworthy AI (TAI) to increase the interpretability, accountability, fairness, robustness, privacy, security, etc. of AI systems
- The use of federated learning (FL) and edge computing (EC) to enable distributed data processing without compromising data privacy or quality
How do you approach a research problem or question that involves AI methods or applications?
- Define the problem or question clearly by specifying its scope, objectives, assumptions, constraints, etc.
- Review the existing literature or data sources related to the problem or question by searching for relevant publications, reports, datasets, benchmarks, etc.
- Select an appropriate methodology or framework for solving the problem or answering the question by choosing suitable tools, techniques, algorithms, models, etc.
- Implement or apply the methodology or framework by collecting, preprocessing, analyzing, modeling, testing, evaluating, etc. data using software tools such as Python/R/SQL/TensorFlow/PyTorch/etc.
- Communicate or disseminate the results or findings by writing a report /paper/presentation/dashboard/etc. using software tools such as Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Tableau/etc.
How do you measure the impact or value of your research work or output for business outcomes or objectives? (1)
I measure the impact or value of my research work or output for business outcomes or objectives by using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative methods include metrics such as revenue growth, cost reduction, market share, customer satisfaction, return on investment etc., that can be directly linked to the research output and its implementation. Qualitative methods include feedback from stakeholders such as clients, managers, peers etc., that can provide insights into the usefulness, relevance and quality of the research output and its implications.
How do you measure the impact or value of your research work or output for business outcomes or objectives? (2)
For example, in my current role as a research associate at Bernstein Autonomous, I have built bottom-up patient and prescription-based models to forecast drug sales for biopharmaceutical companies. I measure the impact or value of these models by comparing them with actual sales data and industry benchmarks to assess their accuracy and reliability. I also solicit feedback from clients and senior analysts to evaluate how well these models meet their expectations and needs.
How do you measure the impact or value of your research work or output for business outcomes or objectives? (3)
Another example is when I participated in a project across different teams and industries to produce a comprehensive report on the in-vitro diagnostics industry. I measure the impact or value of this report by tracking its readership, citations and media coverage to gauge its influence and reach. I also collect feedback from internal and external stakeholders to understand how this report helps them gain insights into the industry trends, opportunities and challenges.
Why are you interested in working for Evident AI as a research analyst? (1)
