A period of exploration outside of European territory through oceanic trade routes with goals of colonization, trade, and expansion.
What were two main goals of European explorers?
To find new trade routes and discover new lands
Why did they want to find new trade routes?
Wanted new direct trade routes to Asia, rather than through Italian- and Muslim-controlled routes
What influenced them to discover new lands?
They were influenced by Renaissance period (scientific revolution)
What were the explorers fueled by?
God, gold, and glory
