EUKARYOTIC VS PROKARYOTIC Flashcards
1
Q
EUKARYOTIC
A
Organism whose cells have a nucleus enclosed within a nuclear envelope. Belong to the domain (Eukaryota)
2
Q
PROKARYOTE
A
Unicellular organism that lacks a nuclear membrane enclosed nucleus.
3
Q
HOW ARE PROKARYOTES AND EUKARYOTES SIMILAR?
A
- Both carry necessary functions of life. (Adaption through evolution, cellular organization).
- Both cells carry DNA and rDNA (ribosomal DNA).
- Both prokaryote and eukaryote cells have vesicles.
- Both prokaryotes and eukaryotes may be single-celled organisms.
- Both types of cells have vacuoles, storage units for food and liquid.
4
Q
HOW ARE PROKARYOTES AND EUKARYOTES DIFFERENT?
A
Eukaryote cells have membrane-bound nucleus and prokaryotes do not.
