Olympic Oath
Introduced in 1920 and is read by all competitors from all countries competing. The oath promoted fair play and no cheating through the use of PEDs.
How is the Olympic oath still relevant today?
- Still read in modern day olympics
- Officials have their own oath- introduced in 1972
- If athletes break the rules the WADA come up with fines and bans
- Amateurism is still encouraged
How is the Olympic oath not relevant today?
- Athletes still cheat using drugs
- Some bans or fines are only short term so the athlete can come back and compete

Deviance
Behaviour which goes against the norms of society and is deemed unacceptable
Positive Deviance
Behaviour which is outside the norms of society, but with no intent to harm or break the rules. It involves over adherence to the norms or expectations of society.
Negative Deviance
Behaviour that goes against the norms and has detrimental effect on individuals and society in general
