Divorce and Remarriage
Adultery (Matt 19), abandonment (1 Cor. 7). Remarriage seems permissible only when the covenant is broken through these things. Malachi 2:14-16 “But you say, “Why does he not?” Because the LORD was witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. 15 Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth. 16 “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her, says the LORD, the God of Israel, covers his garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.”
Women in Ministry
Women pray and prophesy in 1 Cor. 11. 1 Cor. 14 must be about authority in the church. 1 Timothy 2:12 “I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.” Deaconess (women and hair in 1 Tim. 2:9 vs deaconess in 1 Tim. 3:11).

Homosexuality
Make singles feel welcome in the church. Emphasis the following of Jesus’s teachings (Matt 15 – uncleaness/pornia, Matt 19 – man and woman from the beginning). Mat 19 – will gain 100 fold.
Race and Ethnicity
The cross makes enemies into friends. John 12:32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” Romans 1:5 “through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations.”
Just War Theory
Aquinas. War is to be undertaken by the prince, not the individual or the church. Romans 13:4 “for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.”
Does God cause sin?
Deuteronomy 32:4 “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.” James 1:13 “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.”
Why does God allow sin?
There is something beautiful about redemption. 1 Peter 1:12 “It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.” 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
