When the player or competitor plays to the rules and does not cheat.

A
When you aim to win by whatever means possible, within or outside the rules.

What is deviance?
A
Behaviour that falls outside the norms or what is thought to be acceptable; goes against the moral values or laws of the sport.

What is positive deviance?
A
Deviance where there is no intention to cause harm or break the rules (e.g. continuing to play when injured or accidentally injuring someone).

What is negative deviance?
A
Deviance that has a detrimental effect (e.g. taking PEDs or diving in the box).
