A code of conduct that every professional psychologist in the UK has to follow
Ethical issues
When there is a conflict between the rights of participants to be safe and the goals of research to produce valuable data
Informed consent
Participants have made an informed decision about whether they want to take part
Deception
Participants should not be lied to or misled about the aims of a study
Protection from harm
Participants physical and psychological safety should be protected at all times
Confidentiality
Data collected about a person, even the results of an experiment, belong to the person
