A

Combine 2 to 8 ports to increase bandwidth
• Viewed as one logical port
• Duplex and bandwidth have to match on both switches but not port numbers
You can configure with:
• No protocol – “on”
• Cisco’s protocol (PAGP) – auto and desirable
• Generic protocol (LACP) – passive and active

A

Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
• Maps known IP addresses to unknow MAC addresses
• When a node sends data to a destination node for the first time, it must determine the destination’s
MAC address.
• ARP request (broadcast) – “If this is your IP address, send me your MAC address.”
• ARP reply (unicast) – “Here is my MAC address.”
• MAC address is mapped to IP address and placed in the sending node’s ARP cache.
• ARP cache is located in RAM
