Estuarine mudflats + salt marshes Flashcards
1
Q
Where do mudflats form?
A
On sheltered shorelines which are not exposed to powerful waves, in low energy areas.
2
Q
Why are mudflats not necessarily a permanent feature?
A
Due to changes in sea level, changes to tidal flows, wave action, and changes in discharge levels from the river.
3
Q
What are halophytes?

Vegetation which tolerate salt and periodic submergence from the sea.
4
