A
Vasomotor disturbances such as erythromelalgia(red and painful hands/feet with warmth and swelling) Livedo reticularis Headache Vision symptoms Arterial or venous thromboses Splenomegaly

Treatment
A
- life threatening symptoms: platelet apheresis and cytoreductive therapy with hydroxyurea
- non life threatening symptoms: low doses hydroxyurea, anagrelide, interferon Alfa plus low dose aspirin
- patients

Diagnosis
A
- most common myeloproliferative disorder
- occurs in middle aged and older adults
- characterized by thrombotic and hemorrhagic complications
- stem cell disorder with an increase in megakaryocytes and platelet counts >600K
- JAK2 mutation
