Independent Clause
Ex: I went to the movies.
Dependent Clause
Ex: when Lauren was finished with her homework. (Sentence with subject and verb but does not express complete thought)
Subordinating Conjuction
Add it to the beginning of an independent clause ( because, though, before, after, until)
Coordinating/transitional conjunction
Used to connect independent clauses (and, but, for, nor, also, furthermore)
Point of Views
1st: personal narrative, in your spoken voice (I, me, mine, myself, we, us, ours, ourselves)
2nd: the person who is being spoken to, either verbally or on the page. (You, yours, yourself, yourselves)
3rd: the person who is being spoken about, third person is not me, not you, but another person. (he, she, it, him, her, his, hers, himself, herself, itself, they, them theirs, themselves)
Objective Vs. Subjective voice
- Objective voice: nonfiction, non personal writing
- Subjective voice: Personal approach, the writers reality and opinion
