Mucosal Phase - used for the demo of mucosal patter; uses a thick mixture
What are the contraindications of barium sulfate?
Perforation
Aspiration
Intravasation
Describe the 3 CI of barium sulfate
Perforation - barium sulfate could escape to peritoneal cavity and could cause pain & sever hypovolemic shock
Aspiration - pneumonitis & granuloma formation
Intravasation - barium pulmonary embolus
Aside from barium sulfate, what is another type of contrast that can be used in esophagography?
Iodinated CM
What is the CI of iodinated CM?
Severe dehydration
Sensitivity to iodine
What are the methods used in esophagography?
overhead/conventional
