Eschatology:
The Study of the end of time
Judgment:
God will judge us at the end of time
Heaven:
The “good” afterlife. Catholics believe we are redeeemed by jesus and bo to heaven if we confess our mortal sins.

Hell:
The “bad” afterlife. Hell is described as fire, and pain in revelations, but is believed to be the living in the absence of god.
death:
All people will die eventually. The only people not tp die are jesus and mary.
Purgatory
Purgatory is not an alternative to heaven or hell. Instead it is a place of personal, holy reflection on our failures, where all truth is revealed to you.
Cosmic reconciliation
All things will be brought together in harmony
Last rites
Anointing of the sick
A priest can bless those who are facing life threatening ilness it is a scrament that can be made multiple times.
Funeral
The event after somebody’s death where mass is said and the body is buried or cremated.
Sanctity of life
God gave us life; only he can take it.
Euthanasia
The ending of a life for somebody who is in pain. Catholics are against this because they believe that only god can take a life away.
Eschatology and the ressurection
At the end of time, Jesus will return
to earth to judge us. Those who are dead will be ressurected. “He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead” - Nicene creed

Jesus must have been raised from the dead, otherwise our faith is useless.
Through jesus’ ressurection we are saved.
Death
All creation will die, but will come back to life at the end of time. All humans we live under god.
Judgement
God sill judge us at the end of time
Heaven
Catholics believe that humans are not worthy of going to heaven, but are redeemed through Jesus.
Hell
Those who ignore god and are unworthy may go to hell. Jesus took our hell punishment on the cross. Our belief and trust in god allows jesus to redeem us according to Acts 16:31.
Rich man and lazarus:
A man is comfortable in his life. He is not charitable. He spends eternity in discomfort

Those who are comforted in their lives must comfort others, otherwise, why should god comfort them?
Purgatory
Purgatory is not an alternative to heaven or hell.
Instead, it is a place of waiting before you go to heaven. Here, all doubt and lies are taken away and you face the truth. People may take as long as they need in order to be cleansed.
Particular judgement
God will judge each our worthiness and unworthiness as individuals. This may determine if we go to heaven or hell. According to Acts 16:31, the belief in jesus allne may redeem us.
Final judgement
At the end of time, God returns to judge us and we return to God. We are ordered to repent of our sins. “He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead”
Sanctity of life
God created all human life. Therefore, life is creation that we must protect. Only god should end another life
Care of the dying
As people are dying, they should receive all the necessary care.
Euthanasia
Passive euthanasia is permitted, its is taking somebody off of life support or off of a medicine in order to allow nature to take its course. It is permitted.
Active euthanasia is the ending if a life by an additional process. For example, doctors may give a medicine that ends someones life. It is not permitted according to “do not kill”

The priest blesses and lights the candle. The lit candle represents the risen christ
Other uses of paschal candle
It is lit at every mass in eastertide, at every baptism and every funeral. It is intended to last for the whole year

The time when all things will be brought together in harmony

Free will and who goes to hell
We sin throuh our free will. We also may repent and believe in god through free will. According to Acts 16:31 we will be redeemed by our belief in jesus.
