A
children who are not treated for group A beta hemolytic strep infections of the pharynx

How long after strep infection does rheumatic fever present?
A
2-5 weeks

What are the major criteria for rhematic fever?
A
- migratory arthralgias (joints)
- carditis
- subQ nodules
- erythema marginatum
- syndenham’s chorea

Clinical features of erythema marginatum:
A
migratory expanding annular/polycyclic patches/plaques starting as macules
- can migrate 2-12mm in 12 hours!!!
- rash is present during active phase of rheumatic fever (along with carditis) and resolves in a few weeks

Treatment of rheumatic fever:
A
Simply has to run its course, just supportive care
