Erosion
The process by which wind, water, ice, or gravity transports soil and sediment to one location to another.
Weathering
The process by which rock materials are broken down by the action of the physical or chemical process.
Water Cycle
The continuous movement of water from the ocean to the atmosphere to the land and back to the ocean.
Evaporation
When water heats up and becomes gas.
Condensation
The state where gas turns into a liquid.
Precipitation
Any form of water that falls to the earth’s surface from clouds.
Surface Runoff
The flow of water on the earth’s ground surface.
Tributary
A steam that flows into a lake or into a larger stream.
Watershed
The area of land that i drained by a water system.
Continental Divide
Drainage divide on a Continent.
Deposition
The process in which material is laid down.
Delta
A fan-shaped mass of material deposited at the mouth of the stream.
Floodplain
The area along a river that forms from sediments deposited when the river overflows the banks.
Water table
The upper surface of underground water.
Sewage Treatment Plants
A place where a city cleans their water.
Septic Tank
An underground tank where sewage is collected and transported.
Sea Stacks
Rocks on a beach.
Sea Arches
An arch of rock made by weathering.
Sea Cave
A cave on a surface of sea water.
Wave-Cut Trenches
Waves in the sand caused by the waves of the sea.
Headlines
A narrow piece of land extending from the coastline into the sea.
Beach
A sandy place that borders bodies of water.
Glacier
Large pieces of ice in water.
Glacier Drift
the movement of glaciers.
