Ring of Fire
The largest eruption from the ring of fire came from MT. Tambora in 1805.
Strike-Slip Fault
This fault is a transform plate motion when two boundary slide pass each other.
Normal Fault
The fault equivalent to a divergent plate motion when two boundary go away from each other.
Reverse Fault
The fault equivalent to a convergent plate motion when two plate motions goes on top of each other and the other is under.
P Wave
A seismic wave that causes particles of rock to move in a back-and-forth direction.
S Wave
A seismic wave that causes particles of rock to move in a side-to-side motion.
Epicenter
The point on Earth’s surface directly above an earthquake’s starting point, or focus.
Focus
The point along a fault at which the first motion of an earthquake occurs.
Richter Magnitude Scale
A scale meant to measure earthquakes.
Explosive Volcano
A volcano the explodes violently.
Nonexplosive Volcano
A volcano that releases lava in large amounts but not violently.
Krakata
Volcano which blow up in 1883.
Yellowstone Super Volcano
Volcano that can destroy life.
San Andreas Fault
Fault in California that is 1,200 kilometres long.
Mid-Ocean ridge
A chain of under water volcanoes.
