2-3 years
Autonomy Vs. Shame and Doubt
Children start to develop independence which leads to autonomy, failure results in shame and doubt
Preschool
3-5 years
Initiative Vs. Guilt
Children begin to play with other and may lead if possible. Children ask questions and if not answered correctly children may feel guilty about asking
School age
6-11 years
Industry Vs. Inferiority
Children begin school and start to make friends. Success leads to competence and failure leads to inferiority
Adolescence
12-18 years
Identity Vs. Role Confusion
Teens begin to truly develop who they are. Success leads to identity and failure may lead to role confusion
Young adulthood
19-40 years
Intimacy Vs Isolation
People begin to form relationships with other which may include intimacy. If no relationships found then one may feel isolated
Middle Adulthood
40-65 years
Generativity Vs. Stagnation
Adults usually work and start to provide for themselves and others. They feel good that they are generating and if failure comes up then they feel stagnation
Maturity
65- death
Ego Integrity Vs. Despair
People should look back and feel successful and feel fulfillment. If failed, feeling may be regret
Infancy
Birth to 18 months
Trust Vs. Mistrust
Children start to develop sense of trust from caregiver and if this is not given then mistrust develops
