Q
What is Erikson’s Identity Development Theory?
A
- Each stage is characterized by a crisis
- Successful resolution of the crisis leads to healthy development
- Failure to resolve the crisis means ongoing struggles with those issues through life
- The stages (time limits) are set by nature and are resolved through the social influence of nurture.
- Healthy development includes balanced tension between the two poles of the crisis.
