employment. prohibits an employer from discriminating against a qualified person with a disability:
- if employer does not make reasonable accommodations
- or denies employment based on need to make reasonable accommodations
- unless employer can demonstrate that the needed accommodations would cause an undue hardship on operation of business
* employer must make accommodations that would enable equal performance and benefits of one without a disability, however employee must make the request
title II
public service. extends civil rights for people with disabilities in accessing public transportation, government employment, facilities, and services
title III
public accommodations. designed to protect persons with disabilities form discrimination related to full and equal access to services, facilities, accommodations, goals, privileges, and advantages of any place of public accommodation by the person who owns, leases, or operates a site, place, or facility that is public.

how to comply with laws?
- job descriptions: should be thorough and identify physical and mental requirements of the job as well as any special skills or abilities necessary
- questions you can ask: if the prospective employee will be able to perform specific tasks essential for job functions

- employer must consider requirements for accessibility

- work methods should be designed to reduce repetitive motion, excessive force or poor posture
administrative controls
