Equipment & Functions Flashcards
Where are the 12 lead wires located?
- 8 are chest leads
* 4 are limb leads
What are the 12 circuits being produced?
- 3 are bi-poplar
- 3 are unipolar
- chest circuits are unipolar
What are the 3 bipolar leads for Einthoven’s Triangle?
- LEAD 1 = Tracing from left arm to right arm
- LEAD 2 = Tracing from right arm to left leg
- LEAD 3 = Tracing from left arm to left leg
What are CHEST LEADS?
- They’re precordial leads
* Numbered form V1-V6 and measure in one direction
INPUT:
Receiving impulse from electrode
SIGNAL PROCESSING:
Amplification of signals inside the machine = Augmented Leads
OUTPUT DISPALY:
A screen or printed report
COMPUTERIZED MEASUREMENTS:
ECG’S program, hard drive and processor
COMMUNICATION:
Networking abilities that allow info to be sent to other machines or locations
INTERPRETATION:
Hint given by the machine on the issue of the heart
SPEED:
- Standard speed is 2 mm/s unless,
* Patient has a fast heart rate or patient is a child, in this case speed is 50 mm/sec
GAIN:
Controls the height of ECG waveforms
- Standard height is 10 mm/mv
- If too tall lower to 5 mm/mv
- If too small raise to 15 mm/mv
ALWAYS NOTE CHANGES IN REPORT
ARTIFACT FILTER:
A filter that detects and prevents abnormalities from being marked, is automatically enabled
HEART RATE LIMIT ALARM:
An alert that notifies when a patients heart rate goes above or below an established limit
LEAD SELECTOR:
A way to specify the lead that one wants to read on the machine
