A

Open involves cutting into the parietal layer of the vaginal tunic

Closed does not cut into parietal layer of vaginal tunic

Four Maini complications following castration

A
  1. Hemorrhage
    - if you can count drips or see a stream its too much
  2. Eventration
    - through internal inguinal ring
    - small intestine and/or omentum
  3. Excessive swelling
    - grapefruit or bigger! (some slight swelling is normal)
  4. Infection
    - ascending –> abdominal adhesions (rare)
