Medial Scapula Right or Left

A

DP: Contralateral side of horse; Tall bale
Stab: Wrist of contact hand
DC: Calcaneal or Pisiform of INFERIOR hand; Fingers pointing down scapula spine toward point of shoulder
SC: Dorsal ridge of scapula
LOC: Following line of scapula

NOTES:
ASSISTANT needs to lift leg

BEND posterior knee to get LOC

Lateral Scapula Left or Right

A

DP: Ipsilateral; Horse riding stance with superior leg slightly forward
DC: Wrapped fingers of SUPERIOR
SC: Cupped hand around anterior aspect of Fetlock
Stab: Crossed over INFERIOR hand cupping anterior aspect of Carpal joint
LOC: Following lie of scapula

NOTES: Keep back straight; Lift from legs

A

DC: Calcaneal of inside hand; fingers pointing down; elbow locked into side / hip

Stab: Inside of upper limb; against thrust
LOC: L-M

Stab: Against thrust; Gently see if the horse is comfortable with inside the upper leg over the adductors
LOC: Cr-Cd; D-V

NOTES:
Must not be weight bearing when adjust
To find GT - follow parallel line around from tuber ischia

DC: Fingers of outside hand
SC: Medial patella
Stab: Body; Against thrust
LOC: M-L Pull

SC: Lateral patella
Stab: Against thrust; Gently see if the horse is comfortable with inside the leg

DC: Calcaneal of outside hand
SC: Lateral Tibial Ridge - just distal to stifle joint
Stab: Against thrust; Inside stifle joint

A

DP: Ipsilateral; Facing caudally; Farriers stance
DC:
Medial = Calcaneal of inside hand; fingers parallel to ground
Lateral = Calcaneal of outside hand; fingers parallel to ground
SC:
Medial = Medial calcaneus
lateral = Lateral calcaneus
Stab: Against thrust
LOC:
Medial = M-L Push
Lateral = L-M Push

NOTES:
Fingers must be parallel to the ground. Not over top of the joint
