Equality of Access
Every child should have same rights + opportunities to access education provision, e.g schools of similar quality without unfair social selection
Equality of Circumstance
Children should all be of similar socio-economic status starting school. Without this, children don’t have the same starting point or chance of obtaining success in education
Equality of Participation
Everyone has same chances to participate on equal footing in school processes
Range of factors mean this isn’t true- social class, gender, and ethnicity effect school life
Equality of Outcome
Everyone has same chances of sharing in eventual benefits of schooling

Suggests dominant meaning given to equality of opportunity is equality of access- other three rarely considered or implemented
