What is ADS-B? (2)

A

Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast

A means by which aircraft, aerodrome vehicles and other objects can automatically transmit and/or receive data such as identification, position and additional data, as appropriate, in a broadcast mode via a data link

Q

What is ADS-B Out & ADS-B In? (2)

A

ADS-B Out - Signal is captured for surveillance purposes on the ground

ADS-B In - On board other aircraft in order to facilitate airborne traffic situational awareness, spacing, separation and self-separation

Q

What is ADS-C? (3)

A

Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Contract

Contracts (agreements) being established between the ground system and the aircraft’s avionics via datalink

“C” - Ground system provides the aircraft with a list of reports to send and specifies when they are required to be sent
