Answer 1

They either stop the waves so it doesn’t hit the coast, or it takes away the waves energy so it doesn’t hit the coast with such a big force.

How does dredging affect the coastline?

Answer 2

Dredging increases channel capacity, or line it with concrete to speed up river flow. This gets water away quickly stopping as much water from hitting the coast.

How does development (jobs/houses/building) impact on the

coastline?

Answer 3

The coastline would break off and erode quicker causing the buildings/houses would need to be moved or removed.

Some parts of the coast are taken care of because processes might need to take place there whereas other parts might not be very important.

Sediment is taken from Swanage Bay from its headlands and moving it to the bays, by long shore drift.

How is Swanage coastline being affected by human processes

(management, industry, tourism, transport etc)?

Tourists go to swanage bay and would go to shops and restaurants instead of the beach.
