How does coastal management (building groynes for example) affect coastlines down drift?

A

They either stop the waves so it doesn’t hit the coast, or it takes away the waves energy so it doesn’t hit the coast with such a big force.

How does dredging affect the coastline?

A

Dredging increases channel capacity, or line it with concrete to speed up river flow. This gets water away quickly stopping as much water from hitting the coast.

A

The coastline would break off and erode quicker causing the buildings/houses would need to be moved or removed.

A

Some parts of the coast are taken care of because processes might need to take place there whereas other parts might not be very important.
