Use of Cockpit Oxygen Masks

Aborted Engine Start
- Engine start lever (affected engine) - Cutoff
Loss of thrust on both engines
- Engine start switches (both) - FLT
APU Fire
- APU fire switch - confirm - pull, rotate to the stop, and hold for 1 second
To manually unlock the APU fire warning switch, press the override and pull
- APU switch - Off
Cargo Fire (main) : Cargo mode
- Oxygen masks/regulators - On/100%
- Crew communications - Establish
Cargo Fire (main) Combi Mode
- Oxygen masks/regulators - On/100%
- Crew communications - Establish
Lavatory or Galley Smoke

Runaway Stabilizer
- Control column - Hold firmly
- Autopilot/autothrottle (if engaged) - Disengage
Do not reengage autopilot or autothrottle
- If the runaway stops after the autopilot is disengaged:
- If the runaway continues after the autopilot is disengaged : stab trim cutout switches (both) - cutout
If the runaway continues : stabilizer trim wheel - grasp and hold
Landing Configuration
- Ensure correct airplane landing configuration
Takeoff configuration
- Ensure correct airplane takeoff configuration
Warning horn (intermittent)
Or
Warning light - cabin altitude
- Oxygen masks/regulators - On/100%
- Crew communications - Establish
If on deck ensure correct airplane takeoff configuration
Approach to stall recovery
- Autopilot/autothrottle - Disengage
- Thrust Levers - Advance as needed
- Pitch - As required
- Wings - Level
Rejected Takeoff
- Autothrottle - Disengage
- Thrust Levers - Idle
- Brakes - Verify RTO or max manual
- Speed brakes - Deploy
- Reverse Thrust - Apply
- Ground evacuation checklist - If required
Reasons to reject takeoff before 80 knots
- Activation of the master caution system
- System failure(s)
- Unusual noise or vibration
- Tire failure
- Abnormally slow acceleration
- Takeoff configuration warning
- Fire or fire warning
- Engine failure
- Predictive windshear warning
- If a side window opens
- If the airplane is unsafe or unable to fly
Reasons to reject takeoff above 80 knots but below V1
- Fire or fire warning
- Engine failure
- Predictive windshear warning
- If the airplane is unsafe or unable to fly
Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) Caution
Correct the flight path, airplane configuration, or airspeed
Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) Warning
(Pull Up or Terrain Terrain Pull Up)
- Autopilot/autothrottle - Disengage
- Thrust Levers - Full forward
- Pitch - Rotate to 20*
- Speed brakes - Retract
TCAS traffic advisory (TA)
Look for traffic, call out any, maneuver as needed
TCAS resolution advisory (RA)
Do not Descend if issued below 1000’
Not in landing configuration:
1. Autopilot - Disengage
2. Pitch - Follow RA command
Landing configuration:
1. Autopilot/autothrottle - Disengage
2. Thrust Levers - Full forward
3. Flaps - Set 15
4. Pitch - Follow RA command
5. After positive rate of climb is established Landing Gear - Up
Drift down
Autothrottle disengage, set thrust manually to CON. On FMC CRZ select ENG OUT to calculate speed and max alt
Windshear Escape
- TO/GA - Push
- Autopilot/autothrottle - Disengage
- Thrust Levers - Full forward
- Pitch - Rotate to 15* or follow FD
- Speed brakes - Retract
Reasons to abort start
- No N1 rotation before the engine start lever is raised to idle detent
- No oil pressure indication by the time the engine is stabilized at idle
- No increase in EGT within 10 seconds of raising the engine start lever to idle detent
- No increase in, or a very slow increase in N1 or N2 after EGT indication
- EGT rapidly approaching or exceeding the start limit
