30
Q

Land as soon as POSSIBLE

A

Land at the nearest suitable landing area (i.e. open field) without delay. The consideration is the survival of the occupants.

31
Q

Land as soon as PRACTICABLE

A

Land at the nearest suitable airfield/heliport. Extended flight is not recommended.

32
Q

Emer Eng Shutdown

A

Shut down the engine(s) without delay. Engine Shutdown in flight is usually not an immediate action unless a fire exists. Before shutting down an engine, identify the affected engine by checking indications of RRPM, PTIT, engine oil pressure and the ENG FAIL caution.

33
Q

Autorotate

A

Adjust the flight controls as necessary to establish an autorotational descent and landing.

34
Q

Reversionary Rich Hung Start

A

(Characterized by N1 holding about 40% and PTIT climbing above 600°C)

  1. Set affected engine ECL to STOP
  2. Allow PTIT to decay to 260°C or below (motor engine as required)
  3. Check N1 0%
  4. Advance ECL half the distance between STOP and GND (15°)
  5. Motor engine using ENG START switch until 12% N1 and then release switch
  6. After engine ignition (PTIT rising) slowly advance ECL to GND. Check that N1 is stabilized at ground idle
35
Q

Reversionary Lean Hung Start

A

(Characterized by N1 hanging at approximately 30% and PTIT remaining below 500°C)

  1. Slowly advance the Hung engine ECL to achieve acceleration (max 1/3 travel from GND to FLT)
  2. Retard ECL to GND as ground idle speed is approached. Check that N1 is stabilized at ground idle

After starting first engine, second engine must be started or motored for 10 seconds within 3 minutes. When operating for extended periods with only one engine operating, the second engine must be motored for 10 seconds every 30 minutes

36
Q

Engine Run Up

A

[Engine] Transmission oil pressures - check for min of 7psi. There is no time limit for ground idle ops, provided there is a minimum 7psi oil pressure in each engine

Failure of either engine to accelerate smoothly from ground to flight or engine N1 to accelerate past 70% N1 may be an indication of a clutch malfunction in the engine transmission

37
Q

Emergency Descent Profile
(Straight Ahead)

A

*Thrust… maintain 104% Nr
*Airspeed… 130-150 KIAS
*Recovery… initiate @ or above 600’ AGL and decelerate to 70-80 KIAS

38
Q

Emergency Descent Profile
(Out of Trim)

A

*Thrust… maintain 104% Nr
*Airspeed… 100 KIAS
*Cyclic… 8-10 degree bank
*Pedals… approx 1 ball width out of trim
*Recovery… initiate @ or above 600’ AGL, return ball to center, airspeed 100 KIAS

39
Q

Emergency Descent Profile
(Low Speed Maneuvering)

A

*Thrust… maintain 102% Nr
*Airspeed… 70-90 KIAS
*Bank… A/R up to 60 degrees
*Recovery… Initiate @ or above 600’ AGL and return wings to level
