A
- Dry weather
- Nasal mucosal inflammation
- Primary coagulopathy (haemophilia)
- Minor trauma
- Familila hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia
- Medication
- Neoplasm (rare)

What is the management plan for epistaxis?
A
- Firm pressure on both nostrils for 10 mins
- Topical anaesthesia and vasoconstriction for initial treatment
- Cautery or anterior or anterior-posterior packing techniques

What are possible complications of epistaxis?
A
- Acute bacterial rhinosinusitis
- Septal perforation with bilateral cautery
- Toxic shock syndrome
- Cardiovascular compromise with extensive bleeding
