Catecholamine
Indications
- Cardiac arrest of any origin
- Severe hypotension/shock
- Bradycardia
- Anaphylaxis
- Sever asthma exacerbation
Contraindications
- No absolution contraindication exists in the emergency setting
- Relative contraindications are hypovolemic (shock due to blood loss) shock and hypothermia
Dosing for Cardiac Arrest (asystole/pulseless arrest, v-fib, or pulseless v-tach)
1 mg IV/IO bolus (0.1 mg/ml [1:10,000] solution) every 3-5 mi for the duration of the arrest
Dosing for Bradycardia (non-responsive to atropine or pacing)
2-10 mcg/min IV/IO continuous infusion
Dosing for Post-Cardiac arrest hypotension (non-responsive to fluid therapy)
0.1 - 0.5 mcg/kg/min IV/IO continuous infusion

Duration
2-10 minutes
Dosing for Anaphylaxis and Severe Asthma Exacerbation
Initial: 0.3 mg (1 mg/mL [1:1,000] solution) IM, every 5 to 15 minutes as needed
Continuous Infusion: Initiate at 0.1 mcg/kg/min and titration by 0.05 mcg/kg/min every 2-3 min until blood pressure improves
