Epigastric/Abdo Pain Flashcards
Sx: pain is related to diet - excess, or difficulty to digest, pain with distending sensation, acid reflux, nausea/vomiting , passing gas can relieve pain, slow bowles (stag in LI) -or- diarrhea (LI Qi is damaged)
tongue: greasy coating /
Pulse: slippery and forceful
Bao He Wan -
Epigastric Pain or Abdo Pain, Wei Tong or Fu Tang due to Food Stagnation
if severe: Zhi Shi Dao Zhi Wan
(nausea vomiting due to stagnation with sticky dark brown stool)
Sx: epigastric/abdo discomfort associated with emotional triggers (anger, stress etc), increased gas/belching (this could be IBS)
Tongue: thin white coating (no heat or cold signs)
Pulse: wiry
Chai Hu Shu Gan Tang
Epigastric or Abdo Discomfort due to LV Qi invading the ST
CC: burning sensation, acid reflux
with other heat -or- constipation OR watery diarrhea w blue/green color and severe odor
Sx: (heat is damaging body fluids), irritability, dry mouth/tongue, dry stool, bitter taste in mouth
Tongue: red tongue, dry yellow coat
Pulse: wiry, rapid -or- forceful and flooding
Qing Wei San - Stomach Heat, Wei Tong -or- Da Cheng Qi Tang - LI - Yang Ming Heat
Sx: fixed pain/stabbing pain (can be tumor or cancer in the ST) in upper or lower abdomen, worse with pressure, pain is worse after eating, vomiting w blood or blood in the stool (severe condition)
Tongue: purple, dark body. Sub lingual veins, dark and distending. coating can be anything /
Pulse: choppy and deep (internal problem)
Shi Xia San + Dan Shen Yin
Blood Stagnation in epigastric area
Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang
blood stagnation in lower abdomen area.
Sx: dull pain that comes and goes,Yin Deficiency Sx (dry mouth/tongue/stool)
Tongue: crimson red, thin dry coat /
Pulse: thin, rapid
Yi Wei Tang -
ST Yin Def
Sx: dull pain, Sp Qi Def Sx (fatigue, loose stool, poor appetite, better w warmth, cold Sx, maybe cold hands and feet)
Tongue: Pale tongue, white coat /
pulse: deep and weak, sl slow
Huang Qi Jian Zhong Tang - SP/ST Qi Deficiency, Wei Tang -or- Xiao Jian Zhong Tang SP/ST Qi Deficiency, Fu Tang (can also use Huang Qi Jian Zhong Tang)
abdo pain with more severe cold Sx
Fu Zi Li Zhong Wan -
Deficiency Cold w SP Yang Def, Fu Tang
Sx: acute condition, pain is better w warmth (pad or water) and worse w cold- aversion to cold, no thirst (if they do, prefer warm)
Tongue: pale, thin white coating /
Pulse: wiry and tight
Liang Fu Wan -
Wei Tong - Epigastric Pain - Cold Congealing ST Qi
