Epidermolysis bullosa Flashcards
1
Q
3 major subgroups of epidermolysis bullosa
A
Intraepidermal (ie simplex)-> heals without scaring
Junctional-> manifest as atrophy
Dermal (dystrophic)-> heals with scaring
2
Q
Epidermolysis bullosa simplex
A
AD inheritance
Split is in the epidermal nasal cells
Blistering on hands/feet and other sites of trauma that heal without scaring
3
Q
Junctional epidermolysis bullosa
A
AR inheritance
Severe generalized blistering of skin without palms/soles involved
Mucous membranes involvement is common
Dentition May be defective
4
Q
Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa
A
AR or AD inheritance
Clinical variability in severity
AR form can get mitten deformity due to repeated blistering and scaring
