Epinephrine 1:1000, Dose?
Asthmatic bronchoconstriction, 0.3mg-0.5mg IM
Allergic reaction/Anaphylaxis, 0.3mg-0.5mg IM
Profound bradycardia, 2-10 mcg/min IVPB continuous infusion, titrated to effect
Mix 1mg in 500mL of Ns or D5W

Epinephrine 1:1000, onset? duration?
Onset: Intramuscular, quick - 5-15 minutes
Duration: Intramuscular, 5-10 minutes
Epinephrine 1:1000, indications?
Asthmatic bronchospasm refractory doesn't respond to Albuterol and Atrovent. Allergic reaction (anaphylaxis). Profound, symptomatic bradycardia refractory to other treatments.
Epinephrine 1:1000, Precautions?
Monitor ECG closely.
Massage the site of injections.
Pts on beta blocks may need higher doses of epinephrine and/or Glucagon.
Epinephrine 1:1000, Side effects?
Tachycardia, MI, Chest pain, Arrhythmias, headache, nausea, restlessness
Epinephrine 1:1000, Special notes?
The Beta 1 effects of this drug require more myocardial oxygen demand.
Always watch the ECG for ventricular arrhythmias. Ask them about chest pain.
NEVER given Epinephrine 1:1000 IV Push!
Epinephrine 1:1000, contraindications?
w/ Asthma - Heart disease/history of AMI, Over 45, Arrhythmias, Labor
